But this one today is simply a bridge too far: America's coming civil war - makers and takers.
On one side are those who create wealth, America’s private sector–the very ones targeted by President Obama’s tax hikes announced Monday.People who read here are WAY too intelligent to need me to breakdown what utter bullshit all of that is.
On the other are the public employee unions; left-leaning intelligentsia who see the growth of government as index of progress; and the millions of Americans now dependent on government through a growing network of government transfer payments, from Medicaid and Social Security to college loans and corporate bailouts and handouts (think GM and Solyndra).
I'll simply say that the dying beast is obviously getting more and more desperate every day.
My plea is to Americans...let the damn thing die!
A number of people on the Right have been fantasizing about a "civil war" where "patriotic Americans" (meaning white and not too bright) will rise up and "restore the Constitution." Which, of course, means their fantasy Constitution, not the actual one. Mind you, it's always someone else who will do the rising up.
ReplyDeleteWith advance apologies to the many good folks in the South I know, and with full recognition that I live in one of the most segregated cities in the country -- I just have to say that whenever I hear one of these Let's Re-Enact The "War of Northern Aggression" fantasists going on about how "The South's gonna rise again!," I just feel like asking them "Again?!? When did you ever rise the FIRST time?"
ReplyDeleteKerry, regardless of what your relatives/neighbors with 6 fingers and 11 toes might tell you, I've never in almost 40 years in the Deep South (AL, MS, TX, NC, SC, TN) NEVER heard it called the war of northern aggression.
ReplyDeleteShelby Foote would puke.
I feel like puking whenever I see a Confederate flag flying.
DeleteOh, and DerFarm, speaking of people with six fingers and 11 toes, meet Bryan Stevenson, Republican state rep from Missouri! http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/archives/individual/2009_02/016840.php
