After all the lying, evading and flip-flopping, Romney's final case is a threat

It seems as though the final message of the Romney campaign is coming into focus. Here's what the candidate himself said today.
You know that if the President is re-elected, he will still be unable to work with the people in Congress...The debt ceiling will come up again, and shutdown and default will be threatened, chilling the economy.
And then...along comes David Frum with the same message.
The congressional Republicans have shown themselves a destructive and irrational force in American politics. But we won't reform the congressional GOP by re-electing President Obama. If anything, an Obama re-election will not only aggravate the extremism of the congressional GOP, but also empower them...
Finally, its pretty much the same argument David Brooks made a few days ago.
The bottom line is this: If Obama wins, we’ll probably get small-bore stasis; if Romney wins, we’re more likely to get bipartisan reform...He has more influence over the most intransigent element in the Washington equation House Republicans. He’s more likely to get big stuff done.
Kevin Drum calls it a "surrender-to-terrorists argument" and Paul Krugman calls it "protection-racket politics." Take your pick. But the argument is the same...since the Congressional Republicans are batshit crazy - vote for a Republican President who will appease them.

Thats just plain NUTS!

  1. The GOP screwed themselves for the past 30 years. The president is going to get a lot of what he wants in his 2nd term. Harry Reid finally found his brain and decided it may be time to change some rules. Bachman and Cantor will be forced out of office. The younger populations of some red states will put pressure on their states to improve. It's going to be an interesting 4 years.

  2. good analysis anon.....I feel likewise....Barack in his lame duck...he will insist on a few things...I think he realizes the walk softly and give some to get some approach is dead.....I still think he will work to insure both sides are happy.....but he won't be pushed around.....Harry is strengthened ...I think the balance in both houses will be improved....it is insane to think a romney presidency will magically be ok for democrats.....like he will have come to his senses and become moderate....he will have to payoff the billionaires....he will be their puppet.....democracy is screwed should he somehow be put into power....he doesn't stand a chance to win legally....
