Oh, this is rich!

Andrew Card on Obama:

"I think he has pounded his chest a little too much," Card said. "He can take pride in it, but he does not need to show it so much."

Need I remind anyone that Card was the Chief of Staff for this guy?

  1. Why does HE think HE has the power of determination for how much pride the President should show? Who is HE? Pshaw!

You know, one of the injustices that have befallen those whites who are bullies is that they have been unable to develop a true sense of their worth as human beings. They have, unfortunately, through upbringing or environment, not been fully able to internalize the 'all men are created equal' credo. On the other hand, despite their upbringing in an environment of slavery, my limited reading of history suggests that more slaves understood that you might enslave the body but you can't enslave the mind - especially if I don't let you.

The other day my brother told me that when he sees this kind of nonsense, it reminds him that these people are working way too hard to try to get back in the political game. It means they know they're screwed.

Sometimes I wonder if they're not dizzy from how hard they're trying to spin this thing.

But you make a great point about the internalized insecurity that comes along with privilege. If you haven't seen it already, take a look at how Tim Wise talks about the pathology of privilege.

  4. How could anyone respect a president who would put a potato in his crotch and prance around on an aircraft carrier?
