ReplyDeleteCould you provide just a brief summary of what he said?
Thank you kindly.
Sorry about that!
ReplyDeleteLuckily for me, TPM did a summary. So here it is:
In these down times, America needs a president who is a "bad ass," Stephen Colbert said on Thursday.
So it was with disappointment he reported that the U.S. is falling behind Russia in "inspirational leadership." Case in point: Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and President Dmitri Medvedev on Wednesday appeared in a rugged front-page photo in the New York Times.
"It's like every one of Russia's government posts is held by a different James Bond," Colbert said. "Meanwhile, what is our president doing? Riding on a bus. The only way Vladimir Putin would be seen riding on a bus is if he trapped it in the wild and then tamed it."
And while Putin was in Siberia "bagging tigers," President Obama on his Midwestern bus tour only came away with a pie.
"Come on, Obama, at least throw it at a puma," Colbert said. "In tough times, we Americans want a president who is a bad ass. If it's not you, it's gonna be Rick Perry. Because if America cannot have James Bond, we'll take Yosemite Sam."
