Rope-a-dope...again

Remember a few weeks ago when the administration put the word out that they'd be raising the debt ceiling while Congress was on break? Then, after Republicans screamed about that being improper while they were on recess, the White House backed down and said they'd wait.

It was only a few days later that President Obama made recess appointments to the CFPB and NLRB.

Well played sir...we played indeed.

  1. Good Morning SP
Thanks for mentioning this one, I also smiled when PBO did it. There are many more of these coming. I am hopeful that someday America is going to have a light bulb moment when they truly understand the "budget deal", "debt ceiling deal" and the putting "major budget deal" on table that Boehner walked away from.

I swear I love this President and Plouffe for their brilliance more and more everyday. How many more times in our history will we ever witness such a team?

Given that Congress was not in session, there won't be an official record of R's response.

But since this was an obvious set-up by the WH, I'd bet a lot of money that they have very good records of them complaining about a debt limit increase while they were in recess.

  4. Thanks for posting this, Smartypants. I noticed it, but didn't connect the dots about the Republicans claiming they were on recess. Well played, indeed!

  6. I also wonder if Clyburn's effort to speak on the floor was part of a set-up.
