So Paul McCartney turned 70 years old today. He'll forever be that young fresh-faced phenom in my mind.
I was in 4th grade when the British invasion happened and got my first record player that year. The first album that came with it was Please Please Me. In other words, the Beatles were where it all began as far as I'm concerned.
Over at The Maddow Blog they're asking readers to name their favorite McCartney song. That's an easy one for me.

My apologies, Ms. Pants, but I firmly believe that while McCartney is attributed the song, John Lennon was the driving force behind Long and Winding Road. At least, it fits much better with the works that are definitviely Lennon vs the works definitively McCartney (it's kinda like Francis Bacon and Shakespeare):

I don't know my favourite McCartney song ... there are many. But my all time favourite Beatles (or anything else song): Here Comes the SUN
One of the things that saddens me about McCartney is that he seems in the years since the Beatles to have internalized the popular (or maybe media) line that he is not much of a lyricist. This is a great example of how excellent a lyricist he can be.
