I got a feelin'

I know I'm supposed to be biting my nails about how President Obama "totally blew it" in the debate this week and the sky is surely falling as we speak. But for some reason, I just can't go there ;-)

Call me crazy, but to me - this is more like it.

Why would I be feelin' that way? Well, there's several reasons.

First of all, I actually get a bit of a kick out of watching both pundits and partisans so totally underestimate Barack Obama and his team. You'd think that after five years of doing that these idiots would learn. But noooooo!!!!! Is anyone else feeling the kind of deja vu I am when you hear them talk about how Obama looks "weak" for not "throwing more punches" in the debate? How'd all that advice work out for you the last 100 times? I'm sooo over arguing with those folks. If they can't pay better attention and learn a new trick once and a while, then all that's left is to sit back and laugh at them.

And then, look what has actually happened since the debate:

Contrary to what all the political junkies are focusing on - the biggest story out there with regular folks is that Mitt Romney wants to kill Big Bird.
The phrase “Big Bird” was appearing 17,000 times every minute on Twitter [the night of the debate]. At midnight, CNN reported that mentions of Big Bird on Facebook were up an astronomical 800,000%.
Our guy noticed. And had a little fun with it yesterday.

And then - it appears that soon we'll be getting some pretty great fundraising news.
The Obama campaign raised more than $150 million in September, a record amount in a single month during the 2012 election cycle...
Could it be that the grassroots is still pretty fired up? That's certainly what the 30,000+ who turned out for President Obama yesterday in Madison were saying.

And finally, we wake up this morning to news that the unemployment rate has finally dropped below 8% - taking away one of Romney's beloved talking points.

So damn straight...I'm fired up - ready to go!!!! And all those chicken littles can go to hell.

  1. My consensus as well, Smartypants. They keep forgetting this is the guy who won against the Clintons and against McCain. If he can do that-he can do THIS.
