President Obama 1 - Glenn Greenwald 0 (zilch, nada)

I just can't help myself.

Some of you will remember that a few months ago I wrote about the fact that Greenwald said the "war on terror" cannot end.

And yet, here's the headline from the NYT editorial board following President Obama's speech yesterday.

That's gonna be some MAJOR cognitive dissonance for the self-proclaimed "anti-authoritarian" to maneuver. Perhaps that's why he has not - as of yet - written anything about the President's speech but has instead chosen to spend all his time tweeting shit like this:
I can`t even care enough even to write about his speeches anymore.
Before he tackles what the President said, he's going to have to do something about this:

  1. This is as good a time as any to say thank you for directing me to this great blog. I got attacked by Greenwald's fan club in a Kos diary last February, I thanked you for having my back in that thread.

I bookmarked this blog right after that & check it at least once a day.

    1. Greenwald has so much egg on his face that his cholesterol count must be off the charts.

    2. I left Kos a while ago too. The emoprogs can have it. This place and thepeoplesview.net do much better analysis anyway.

  2. Maybe Greenwald also didn't write about ending the war on terror because he was too busy with this...

  3. I guess you believe that Obama **saying he wants to end "perpetual war" means that it will end / he will end it? More than ever, Obama strikes me as someone who will never fail at soaring rhetoric, but will rarely deliver on it. We can blame "congress" or "the military industrial complex" for being a bigger force than any one president, in ending "perpetual war" or any other intractible evil; but the gap between rhetoric and reality is a political fact of life. Nothing about what the President says--now or ever-- implies that Greenwald was / is wrong to believe that this nation is and will continue to be committed to perpetual war.

    1. I find it fascinating to watch the arguments from the Greenwald fan-boys and girls change. Previously it was all about President Obama being committed to perpetual war. Now that he's paving the way to actually end it - its all about his rhetoric.

I would simply ask if you support ending this war. If so, why not actually get on board with ending it rather than concede that it has to be perpetual? The cynicism of your position is part of the problem.
