Wow. Now whatever will we do since the TPP embeds much of what we've demanded. Oh. Wait. We can't trust it. It's done by - "that one". (It's now the ubiquitous term for President Obama from BOTH SIDES.)
ReplyDeleteSpot on, Churchlady. The nonsense being tossed at President Obama from all sides--especially from the Left--misses the fact that the major (and minor) things he has done has been for the benefit of ALL Americans, not just one or two groups. He's not about to destroy that now by supporting a bad trade deal.
DeleteOf course, many on the Left are too busy trying to shove him into the same box as President G. W. Bush. It's a dumb move, of course--one that is borne out of both cynicism and stupidity.
Something tells me Warren already knows this and is doing everything in her power to make sure her audience never finds out.
ReplyDeleteNow go read it, and show me the enforcement details.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this very informative chart. If what I see is true, and no reason to suspect otherwise since it's public record, then the TTP is a good thing. I can only strongly question Warren's motives in her opposition, and her desire to attack the sitting president of her own Party. I'm disenchanted, to say the least.
ReplyDeleteThe North American Agreement on Labor Cooperation (NAALC), the side agreement on labor issues that was added to NAFTA, had provisions on child labor and forced labor, union formation and collective bargaining, discrimination, and wages and occupational safety. But it didn't have a very good record of enforcement. NAFTA's side agreement on environmental issues, the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation (NAAEC), addressed what were, at the time, significant environmental issues, such as ozone depletion, cross-border transport of hazardous wastes, and international trade in endangered species (the CITES agreement). Again, enforcement efforts were lacking. Why would anyone expect anything different this time?
