If you click on this link you'll find a video of Condoleezza Rice (piano) and Jenny Oaks Baker (violin) playing a rendition of Amazing Grace. Notice that it was just released today.
And if you click on this link, you'll find a clip from Fox and Friends this morning playing that video and oogling over how wonderful it is. Never once did they mention the role that song played in President Obama's eulogy for Rev. Clementa Pinckney last week. Can you say A-W-K-W-A-R-D?
The whole thing is either the very worst timing in the history of music or an incredibly crude example of "me-tooism."
I report...you decide.

ReplyDeleteAs I've stated in the past, Roger Ailes deserves the Joseph Goebbels lifetime achievement award.
ReplyDeleteUh huh. I'd love them to see and comment on the powerful YouTube presentation by Wintley Phipps, a musical scholar and performer who laid out the slave past to Amazing Grace. He discusses its 'Pentatonic Scale" known as the 'slave scale" - the five black keys that comprise most of the elements of spirituals. The President understood it. Condi never would. FOX would say it's not true. Bah!
ReplyDeleteObama’s fault!
ReplyDeleteDuring her many years as SoS, with Amazing Grace always holding such ‘a special place ‘in her heart, it took President Obama to inspire Condoleezza to link the two together for the benefit of Wounded Warriors. Kudos to you, Mr. President! :-)
