The crowd at the Republican debate
I watched the Republican debate tonight. I know there will be thousands of words said and written about how each of the candidates did and the lies they told (fact checkers are going to have their work cut out for them on this one!)
But for me the biggest impression came - not from any of the candidates - but from the crowd. When Brian Williams asked Perry a question about the more than 200 executions in the state of Texas, the crowd applauded.
I know its a Republican crowd. But still...it saddens me.

I know what you mean. He actually sounded proud of killing over 200 people.
ReplyDeleteThat man is a sick son of a bitch!
I agree. I was watching the debate online and the reaction to that question actually took my breath away. I wanted to cry. Maybe I should have instead of holding it in. Or, maybe I will yet!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your work here by the way!
I'm sure, had he specified the demographics of the executed, the applause would have been even louder.
ReplyDeleteNangleator
ReplyDeleteYeah, I thought about looking up those statistics just to make sure people understood the meaning behind that applause a bit more deeply. It was a real sobering moment for me.
