How the poutragers get played by the media

On Monday, President Obama will unveil his proposal on deficit reduction to the Super Committee created by the debt ceiling deal.

True to form, the poutragers went into a hissy fit responding to rumors that it would include cuts to Social Security and raising the eligibility age for Medicare.

That was until...oops...nope, Social Security won't be included. And...oops...nope, neither will raising the age for Medicare eligibility.

Of course they'll cover their asses by suggesting that the initial reports were "trial balloons" and it was their screeching that took them off the table. It's a convenient cover because they can never be proven wrong. Trouble is, they could just as easily be "trial balloons" designed to do exactly what they are doing - get them all into a rage about President Obama. In other words, to play them.

If these folks had an ounce of sense, they'd advocate for the policies they want to see and leave the trial balloon rumors out of it. But then who am I to suggest any of them were blessed with an ounce of sense?

  1. If these people had any sense, they would have used the energy they've expended picking apart this Presidency at the seams and doing 75% of the GOP's PR work for them, making sure the REAL enemy stayed in opposition, where they belonged.

And if their actions and attitudes, which the media have used (because MSNBC, amongst other outlets, plays up their enormous egos), costs us 2012, I hope we ALL remember them and the "iconic" celebrity talking heads who led these self-important, narcissistic and very stupid sheeple.

  2. FE, we need not let that happen. We Pragmatic Progressives have to make sure our President gets reelected and we take over the house and a larger majority in the senate. Large order to fulfill, but what is the alternative. I may have to go into a fox hole some place. :)
