Thanks for the reminder Michelle

I watched the Republican debate last night. Other than getting that Romney has $10,000 to throw around on a bet, I must admit that it left my head spinning a bit what with all the talk about "Newt Romney" and "invented" Palestinian people and who is Bibi's (Netanyahu) bestest friend and who supported what when it comes to a health insurance mandate. These folks are all lying and/or spinning so hard that its hard to keep track.

And then this morning I read about Glenn Beck calling tea partiers racist for supporting Gingrich after Limbaugh said that criticizing Newt is an "attack on conservatives."

OK, I'll admit...it all gives me a headache.

My reaction was to remind myself once again of what Michelle Obama said about her husband...and try to learn the lesson yet once again.

Here's the thing about my husband: even in the toughest moments, when it seems like all is lost, Barack Obama never loses sight of the end goal. He never lets himself get distracted by the chatter and the noise, even if it comes from some of his best supporters. He just keeps moving forward.

And in those moments when we're all sweating it, when we're worried that the bill won't pass or the negotiation will fall through, Barack always reminds me that we're playing a long game here. He reminds me that change is slow — it doesn't happen overnight.

If we keep showing up, if we keep fighting the good fight and doing what we know is right, then eventually we will get there.

We always have.

The chatter and noise coming from the right is getting awfully loud these days. And I suspect that will continue. I have a limited tolerance level for that before it starts driving me nuts. So its time today to focus on the long game again...keep showing up, keep fighting the good fight, and keep doing what we know is right. We'll eventually get there.

Thanks Michelle!

  3. Raspberries!

Care to educate me? What is this all about? All this talk about 'end goal' , 'long game', and 'eventually we will get there'.

What is this strange code? What does it mean?
Could these exact same words have been said by a Sarah Palin and would they mean the same thing?

I suspect that its not supposed to mean anything either. The whole point is to stay as unfocused and use language so mystic that each person can put their own interpretation on it.

Saves on having to be accountable latter on-doesn't it.

The Tea Party can give you their position in one phrase:less government is better. Agree or disagree its clear where they stand.

What is the Obama message? "Hope and Change"

    nuff said.

  4. You know what Jim? If you don't like how I get my head back on straight after listening to lies, spin and mush from these Republican nutjobs running for President, then I'd just invite you to ignore it all.

  6. Jim, you just hate the man, so you don't listen to him. Get out of our way and let us do the work to re-elect this guy that you refuse to do.
